Restored Hope Zambia Welcomes New Board Members and Chair

Restored Hope Zambia (RHZ) is pleased to announce the appointment of four new board members including a new Chair, following an open and highly competitive recruitment process. These appointments come at a pivotal time as the organisation embarks on a period of transition, laying the foundation for long-term sustainability in its mission to restore hope to survivors of church abuse in Zambia.

Joining the board are Diana Tavaris, Mwape Mwanakatwe, Sikapale Chinzewe, Phoeby Musonda and Abby Nakalinda (advisory board), who bring diverse expertise in finance, governance, survivor advocacy, non-profit operations, marketing and fundraising. Their love for Jesus, knowledge and dedication will be instrumental in guiding RHZ into this next chapter, ensuring continued impact and growth.

Taking on the role of Chair, Diana Tavaris brings experience of financial management and governance, along with a deep commitment to survivor justice and long-term organisational resilience. Upon her appointment, Diana shared the following message:

“It is an honour to step into the role of Board Chair at such a crucial time for Restored Hope Zambia and to build upon the incredible work that has already been done. I want to sincerely thank the team for their unwavering dedication to raising awareness, sensitizing communities, and standing in the gap for survivors of church abuse. Your efforts have been instrumental in shedding light on a deeply painful reality and providing much-needed support to those affected.

As we navigate this transition, our focus remains unwavering: to provide hope, healing, and justice for survivors of church abuse in Zambia. My commitment is also to strengthen our collaboration with churches, church mother bodies, government institutions, and community leaders to increase safeguarding measures.

As we step into this new season, I pray that our work continues to be rooted in truth, justice, and unwavering compassion. With the support of our board, staff, and community, may we bring restoration to those who have been harmed and build a strong and sustainable future for this vital work.

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.” – Proverbs 31:8’”

The response to our call for board members was exceptional, with a high number of outstanding applications from individuals passionate about our mission. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who applied, demonstrating the depth of commitment to breaking the silence of church abuse in Zambia.

As Restored Hope Zambia moves forward, we look with confidence toward a future where survivors receive the support, justice, and ultimately restored hope that they deserve.
